Matthew Ong
Financial Services Consultant
Matthew is a Personal Wealth Consultant with Strategic Alliance, where he has spent the last two years helping individuals plan for a secure and meaningful future—particularly through retirement planning. Prior to joining the financial advisory space, Matthew served as a prison officer under the Ministry of Home Affairs, a role he took on with pride and purpose. However, over time, he began to feel that his values—of growth, recognition, and meaningful impact—no longer aligned with the confines of his previous environment.
“I realised that no matter how hard I worked, it didn’t change the outcome. It didn’t align with the life I wanted to live,” he shares. Seeking a new path that would reward effort, offer autonomy, and allow him to make a broader difference, Matthew made the leap into financial advisory—and never looked back.
What sets Matthew apart is his belief that financial planning isn’t just about numbers, but about giving people clarity and confidence to live well—and leave well. His mission is grounded in the understanding that life is short, and the ability to empower someone to live meaningfully through well-informed financial decisions is a responsibility he takes seriously.
Though the industry was new, Matthew quickly discovered that it wasn’t so far removed from his previous career. “In both roles, you need to understand people. You meet individuals from all walks of life. Some are open, others aren’t—but there’s always something to learn,” he reflects. For him, this business is not a destination, but a journey—one defined by constant evolution, courage, and connection.
His clients often describe him as genuine and hopeful, someone who listens before he advises. One client even remarked, “I didn’t know financial planning could be done like this. Now, I finally have clarity.” That, to Matthew, is the heart of his work: not just recommending policies, but shifting mindsets and enabling people to make empowered decisions.
With a background in mixed media design from Republic Polytechnic and the discipline honed through his scholarship and years in uniformed service, Matthew now channels his creativity, structure, and resilience into building a practice rooted in trust and purpose.
